During Crises
Events such as natural disasters, pandemics, bio-terrorism, food sabotage, and mass-casualty emergencies have become more prevalent over recent years, putting greater pressure on the healthcare system and underscoring the need for effective and efficient tools for tracking and responding to such events.
What is OCA?
OCA Incident Manager is an information management and crisis communication technology that helps health operators deal with surge activity and information dissemination during a crisis. It serves both ends of the health system: At the combat level where hospitals and ambulance services deal with on the ground health issues, and at the strategic government or departmental level where the crisis is monitored at a higher level and decisions are made about community announcements and industry stakeholders.
OCA helps
- Rapidly disseminate information, such as quarantine procedures, community or media updates, policies or health guidelines
- Enact pre-planned scenarios or processes and simulate exercises
- Provide ambulance services with a centralised overview of live hospital bed availability with the support of the asset register and geo-spatial tools
- Perform staff call backs or emergency rostering, with guaranteed message delivery and escalation
- Deal with the logistics of requests for resource assistance such as stockpiling of equipment or drugs
- Undertake incident tracking, logging, situation reporting to track the incidence of a pandemic or other disaster, displayed in a virtual command centre with live updates and information feeds
- Manage information about disaster victims such as next of kin contacts, tracking status and follow-up actions
- Conduct post-hoc incident reporting to key stakeholders
